After two wash-outs last year, if was fantastic to have such a warm sunny open day and so many visitors… When we set the date many months ago, we hadn’t predicted that Andy Murray would be playing in the Men’s Final at Wimbledon on the same day! Fortunately, everyone seemed to have planned ahead and came to pick flowers, eat cream teas and enjoy the relaxed atmosphere before heading home to cheer Andy to victory. Those who couldn’t care less about the tennis were equally welcome in the afternoon. The plot was thoroughly plucked of flowers… and we raised over £200 for the Martha Trust with our cream teas. Thanks to Auntie Mary and my mum for the scones. Peter, our neighbouring ‘secret nurseryman’ seemed to do well on his fantastic plant stall and says he will be back for our Autumn Open Day, on Saturday September 21, yippee.
