We hope you have had a restful and restorative Christmas and New Year and haven’t missed us too much on social media. We decided to have a ‘proper’ break, so on went the out-of-office and Instagram and Facebook took a back seat for a while. But, as promised, we’re back… and we have some exciting news. Very exciting for us and we hope exciting for those of you who live nearby. This week, what was formerly known as Marlpit Farm Shop, is moving here to Loddington Farm .As a family, we’ve always been big fans and customers of the farm shop – our great aunts were regulars at the old site in Chart Sutton, run by Richard and Charlotte. Now, with the farm shop right here, we’ll be spoilt for choice when it comes to top-notch fruit and veg – most of which is sold loose, then put into brown paper bags.
So it’s great if, like us, you hate using plastic. Even better, it will be stocking regeneratively grown produce from the farm as well as fresh bread, eggs, meat, Owlet Fruit juice and, if we’re not being presumptuous (cousin / brother James) flowers from Blooming Green. So, the concept of regenerative farming and ‘farm-to-fork’ continues to make an impact. According to The Sunday Times, some people (we’re not entirely sure who they are) have renamed January, ‘Regenuary’… Well, it may just be a silly headline but the concept is great… and applies to us humans, as well as the soil and planet.
Initially they’ll be setting-up shop in one of the cold stores and the front of the farm buildings before moving to a purpose-built, permanent site, next to the top road. We can’t wait… Never again will any of us be able to say we’ve got nothing for tea! Though resisting all that fresh bread is going to be a challenge… Meanwhile as Richard and Charlotte settle in, we’re hunkering down in the office with a coffee or two, planning the year ahead. It’s both exciting and a little nerve-wracking — like all the best things in life. Happy New Year to you all!
