A container of flowers is £25 for 30 beautiful stems. Children’s jars are £5 each (no need to book these).

Meet the grower!!! Or, at least, growers plural...

Co-founder of Blooming Green, Bek grew up on a fruit farm, studied environmental biology at university before working for nearly 20 years as a countryside conservation officer. Running Blooming Green has been a chance for Bek to focus on growing flowers using the no-dig technique — which goes hand-in-hand with organic principles.

Jen is a co-founder of Blooming Green and started flower-arranging, aged 12, after her dad bet her £5 that she couldn’t win the local flower show. After a degree in the Arts, her first job was at the Tate Gallery before changing careers to journalism. She loves to spread the word about the benefits of locally grown, sustainable flowers — and, if this involves tea and cake, all the better.

Laura, our general manager, is the perfect combination of creativity and organizational skills, forming the ‘wedge’ in the Venn diagram of Jen & Bek. She likes nothing more than creating dreamy floral designs — while at the same time she shares Bek’s love of spreadsheets and systems.

Emily started in floristry, having studied at Hadlow College. As well as being a super-capable florist, she assists with horticulture and social media, brings a lot of laughter to the plot and horrifies the rest of us with her year-round crop tops.

Sarah and Jen knew each other at school. After a career in nursing, Sarah decided to follow a career in horticulture and, having volunteered at Sissinghurst got in touch with us here at Blooming Green. And the rest is history… This farmer’s daughter is not afraid to get her hands dirty, picks flowers and foliage like a demon and doesn’t mind the early morning run up to New Covent Garden.

Barbara is another Hadlow recruit, works across floristry and horticulture. She’s a talented lady and much in demand. She makes heavenly hand-tied bouquets and is the fastest `taper & wirer` in the west.

Julia puts her organisational skills — honed over 25 years working for a GP practice — to good use within the horticulture department. Combat trousers are a sign that she means business — and the potting shed is her HQ!

Once you have learnt how to make a hand-tied bouquet, you’ll never look back. This simple skill can be used to make something as important as a bridal bouquet or simply be used to transform a freshly picked container of flowers into a special gift. We talk you through choosing & conditioning your flowers — including an element of PYO — demonstrate the ‘spiralling’ stem technique, tying-off and attaching ribbons. After that we will demo how to aqua-pack using our compostable bio plastic and gift wrap with tissue and raffia before leaving with a wonderful gift bouquet and a new skill..

It’s peony season! Make the most of the super-short peony season and head to Loddington Farm Shop, where bunches are now £9 for 4 stems (it was previously 3). Not only do they they have incredible flouncy flowers but they smell amazing too. Many of our customers say that these are their absolute favourite flowers and it’s easy to see why...

Learn the art of preserving a piece of nature on our pressed flower workshop. During the workshop you will learn about different flower pressing techniques. We’ll delve into the detail of traditional flower pressing in order to prepare flowers for perfect preservation. Armed with new knowledge you will have time to enjoy creating your own unique piece of art/decoration/set of cards to take home, along with a mini flower press which you will fill with your choice of flowers.
