It’s all go down on the plot, with Bek up to her eyes in seedlings, plants… and planting plans. I’ve been sorting out our bouquet orders (you can now buy online via Paypal, or pay over the phone by debit or credit card) while looking out on lines of tulips, daffs and and narcissi. These are just going over, and now we’re on to alliums, eryisimums (wallflowers, which smell amazing), heuchera, aquilegia… with Sweet Williams looking promising. It’s lovely to see some of the things that have self-seeded too, like nigella and bupleurum as well as the things that we have forgotten over the Winter. Every tour of the plot turns up something ‘new’. Bek and I were out in semi-darkness last night, spotting lovely tall ranunculus which have come on a treat since last year with the help of a little well rotted manure from our friends’ horses. They’ll be added to our latest bouquets this afternoon. Here’s a pic, to brighten the blog and show you what we’ve been up to this month.
Oh, and our first open day of the year will be on Sunday 13 June. Cousin Paul is having his ‘launch’ of the Yalding Gardens and Bushel Box farm shop the day before, so it’s going to be a lively weekend all round. Details to follow.
