A belated Happy New Year to you all and we hope that you are keeping warm. We’ve had a couple of weeks in the flower office, with feet like blocks of ice, but it hasn’t stopped us marvelling at the beautiful snowy landscape. After venturing out to apply some extra insulation to the dahlias, we retreated back inside to draw up some plans for 2013.
The first exciting news is that we are expanding our growing area to include some of our Great Aunt Ray’s garden (see pic). She is no longer with us, sadly, but was always hugely supportive and used to let us pick ‘extras’ and foliage from her lovely mature garden. We are planning to transplant some of our shade lovers, such as astilbe, astrantia and hydrangea, down there in the coming weeks.
For those of you who have been asking about open days for 2013, they are:
Spring: Saturday April 27
Summer: Sunday July 7
Autumn: Saturday September 21
(Our course dates are all on our website).
Lastly — for now at least — we would like to announce our chosen charity for this year. It is The Martha Trust, in Hastings, East Sussex, which provides inclusive, lifelong care for people with profound physical and multiple learning disabilities. We will tell you more about this fantastic organisation in due course…
Happy planning, gardeners and flower-lovers alike.
Jen and Bek
